The final stage of our tour took us to the shores of Lake Coniston, and the warm embrace of Maria and John at Dogson Wood, the former one of the actors involved in Wayfaring Stranger. Pitching the cinema 10m from the water’s edge made for an awe-inspiring view, and frequently passersby on foot or bike stopped to ask what was happening. The sense of an earnest circus arriving into their homes provoked a bunch of these people to stay, join us for fire-cooked food and to view and discuss the films. For this screening, we only showed Andrea’s film, but this did not limit the conversation . On the contrary, we became confidantes to each others’ histories of trauma and emancipation.
