On to Bishop Aukland. For this screening we connected with the community outreach team , newly independent from the Auckland Project. Arriving early into the dramatic grounds of the ‘palace’, we setup in the corner of the turning circle and prepared food like relaxed wayfarers, before a small group of local artists arrived for an informal workshop and conversation. It felt good to make these small and tender connections, to help with the embedding of our mini occupation of such a grand site. The screening drew an interested and engaged audience from the town and further afield, the conversation continuing for almost an hour after Andrea’s film had been abruptly shortened by the battery running out. The Wayfaring Cinema is powered by a large lithium power bank charged off solar pv. It is normally capable of running the 1400W popcorn machine as well as the fairy lights, projector and sound system. We must have made one too many tubs of popcorn ;)
