Cinema Makers Festival, Strasbourg
Led by Le Cosmos (Strasbourg) and La Forêt Électrique (Toulouse) , the Cinema Makers festival was conceived as a follow-up to Cinema Makers , a book written by Agnès Salson and Mikael Arnal (La Forêt Électrique) who met with the teams of around one hundred cinemas and brought together in this book the stories of 22 European cinemas, thus creating a map of a new generation of operators rethinking the cinema. Christo Wallers spoke on behalf of both Star and Shadow Cinema and Kino Climates network.
The festival brought together European cinema operators of the new generation (we're not talking about age here, but rather a movement or a community) who are committed to revitalising their cinemas by offering original formats that go beyond traditional screenings, by maintaining strong ties with local artists, by naturally drawing inspiration from other art forms, by engaging their audiences, and by structuring their organization (team, programming, etc.) differently.
Above all, it was a place for exchange, discussion, and reflection surrounding the creation and sustainability of cinemas that rethink their spaces, their relationships with their audiences and their local communities, and their events.
The invited cinemas are
