Cinema-makerrrrrrs Zine: documenting a radical research retreat for UK alternative film curators and exhibitors. This 18 page zine was printed and bound by Sarah Feinstein (Leeds University), with an essay by Christo Wallers and Rachel Johnson, and pages contributed by participants at the Radical Research Retreat in June 2026. It was prepared as a form of embodied participatory research alongside informal but in depth conversations between participants, reflecting on the. As a departure point, we posed a simple set of questions: how do you define your practice; what are your priorities; and what do you think is special about your practice? This hands-on process was meditatively creative while at the same time conversational, and offered an important space for more informal and tentative reflection outside of the intensity of a focused group discussion. Materials and tools included old cinema programmes and flyers, books, paper and chinagraph pencils, a typewriter, and the staple classics pens, scissors and glue sticks.
